Dedicated to promoting polo internationally, domestically, and as an interscholastic and collegiate sport, the Polo Training Foundation was established in 1967. In addition to its range of funds, PTF also supports players and umpires of all skill levels through its sponsored clinics and programs. These include:
- Youth clinics. Designed to help both horse and rider build confidence, the youth clinics teach participants the sport’s rules and concepts. Through its partnership with the United States Polo Association (USPA), PTF pays the cost of a student’s flight and instructor.
- Student programs. Open to scholastic or collegiate groups, PTF co-sponsors comprehensive clinics that teach polo riding, strategy, horse care, and other essential skills.
- Umpire training. A three-day clinic, umpire training is open to adults at any pre-approved USPA club. PTF pays the club half the cost of hosting the clinic, up to $1,000.
